Partnerships & Collaborations
Partnerships that move battery innovation forward
Our Approach to Battery Innovation
At Global Nano Network, collaboration is how battery innovation moves from concept to commercial reality. We work with manufacturers, research organisations, OEMs and supply-chain partners to solve real electrode and manufacturing challenges, from current collector performance to dry electrode manufacturing, process optimisation and scale-up. Our goal is to improve battery performance, reduce manufacturing complexity and accelerate lower-carbon production routes.
How we work with partners
We lead and support collaborative projects across the battery value chain, including for joint development programmes, pilot validation, manufacturing process development and digital tools that improve scale-up readiness. Our work increasingly focuses on dry electrode manufacturing, where performance, adhesion, cost and sustainability all need to come together in a commercially practical way. These are just a few public examples of companies we have collaborated with.
Lets work together
We welcome collaborations with:
battery manufacturers, cell developers, OEMs, materials suppliers, foil producers, research institutions, universities and industrial scale-up partners working on next-generation battery technologies and cleaner manufacturing routes.
Open to collaborate:
We are always interested in new collaboration opportunities. Whether you are developing next-generation batteries, exploring dry electrode manufacturing, improving current collector performance or looking for support with manufacturing scale-up, we would be pleased to discuss how Global Nano Network can support your technology goals.
Examples of projects we have worked on
Process module development for dry electrode manufacturing
Global Nano Network has advanced its dry electrode manufacturing platform through the development of discrete, modular process units designed for controlled optimisation and future scale-up. Using a structured Design of Experiments approach, we identified the critical process parameters that influence electrode quality, adhesion and performance, and combined proven manufacturing methods with GNN’s own IP-protected technologies to create a robust solvent-free production methodology. The project enabled the development of enclosed dry deposition and proprietary conditioning modules, improving repeatability, reducing process variation and supporting the production of high-quality electrodes for customer validation and downstream cell testing.
CONTACT - Coated current collectors for battery performance improvement
Global Nano Network led the UKRI-funded CONTACT project to validate our coated current collector technology in a continuous roll-to-roll environment. The project focused on improving adhesion, reducing degradation and lowering contact resistance, while helping move the technology from laboratory development toward pre-industrial manufacturing. Insights from CONTACT positioned HyperFoil® as a critical enabler for dry electrode production, a process that eliminates toxic solvents and can significantly cut energy use and manufacturing footprint, which in turn reduces the overall cost for battery manufacturers. CONDUCTOR - Thin and lightweight current collector development
Global Nano Network contributed to the CONDUCTOR project, a collaborative feasibility study focused on developing a thin and lightweight current collector for lithium-ion batteries. The programme explored alternatives to conventional metal foil current collectors with the aim of reducing battery weight and supporting future UK battery manufacturing capability. This project reflects GNN’s ability to contribute specialist materials and process expertise within wider battery innovation programmes. Click here to learn more about this project.
